  • Melanie M. says: It's really hot there. A/C required. This will be the majority of your bill. Expect higher bills in August/September. And Jan/feb. Those are the coldest/ hottest times of the year. You can shop around for a service provider on electricity if living off post. Hope this helps.

  • Jaleigh W. says: Just left Ft. Hood. Off base we found the cheapest electric company was reliant and in the summer it would still get up to a good $350 but the winter wasn't so bad. I think our highest winter bill was $180. be careful with the size of the house and a pool is awesome for summers but we made that mistake with our first house and we paid ALOT. Good luck!

  • I have lived off and on post. When we lived off post our power bil alone was $350-$500 a month. It is VERY hot here!! When we lived on post I NEVER paid any extra on my electricity (which is the only utility that is regulated). I usualy got a check back every month ranging from $25-60. Currently through the months of July 2012 to January 2013 they are re-adjusting the power needs and are not charging any extra on electricity.
